Demetrius McCord

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I announce the loss of my friend, partner, and husband Demetrius McCord. Demetrius passed away suddenly last Friday, March 19th, at the age of 42. We always say that he is survived by, I do not like this idea. It does not demonstrate the true nature of the relationships that Demetrius fostered. Demetrius would always have a kind word. He would speak to your thoughts, and ideas. He would take these and help you forge a destination. A destination that again made you comfortable. He was the epitome of the social graces. He dressed stylish, his grooming was immaculate, but this never made you uncomfortable. It made you want to do the same. I can honestly say that the time I had with him, I have been truly blessed! Demetrius was ever the social butterfly. Yet he was an extremely private man. Most never even thought that his demons ran so deep. Many saw a certain level of that pain and felt an immediate connection to him. Demetrius touched the lives of so many: Raymond, Stephen (domestic Partners), Annie and Willy (parents), Ann, Keisha, and Allen (Siblings) Debi (2nd Mother) DaVal and Benz (Brothers by another mother) Danny, Chrissy, Becca, David, Brian, Eric, Dennis, Matt, Leah, Aaron, Rachael, Sean, Shawn, Omeil, Nixon, Sara, Lenny, Sam, Tyler, Jay, Jason, Jonathan, Paul, Lee, Ryan, (friends, clients, projects and loves) the names go on and on and on. Demetrius was a graduate of Scranton University and Albany Law School and had a passion for writing, legal consultancy, public service, music, and life itself. He had the most wonderful talents to include making music by tickling the ivories of the piano or pushing and pulling the bow of the violin. Writing short stories, poetry, or the contemplative thoughts for discovery. Creating the most incredible and delicious 5 star dinners from scratch, or making new friends. Developing relationships at the drop of a hat, to name a few. He influenced us in so many positive ways, stayed strong and true to his being, nurtured and loved the beagle breed and always offered an open hand and heart to those that needed it the most. He will be so sorely missed. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours b/w (3pm – 5 pm) on Thursday, March 25th, at the Magin and Keegan Funeral Home at 891 Madison Avenue in Albany, NY. God Bless Demetrius.
