David A. Marra

David A Marra age 65 passed away at home on November 18th 2022. He was born in Albany, NY and then moved to Schuylerville where he attended Schuylerville High School graduating in 1975. Dave would start his mornings with the morning rooster call and was a true farmer where he would enjoy a day with his animals on Peck’s farm. He then attended Boces to learn auto mechanics and car detailing. Following high school, Dave enlisted in the Navy where he served for 6 years having been stationed around the world in places like Okinawa, Japan and the Indian Ocean. Following discharge for his service in the Navy, he worked at St Catherine’s Center for Children in the maintenance department. This is where he met his wife, Louisa Johnson. Dave then went on to work at Gary’s Washington Mobil where he worked for many years. After leaving Mobil, Dave began his career as an ambulette driver with his brother-in-law Richie Johnson with “DJ” ambulette. Dave last worked as an ambulette driver with Tri-City. Dave was an avid fisherman and some of his best times were on his boat fishing on Saratoga Lake. Dave loved classic cars and would frequently be seen in front of this house working/detailing the family cars. David had a deep love of animals. Dave was deeply connected to his two dachshund “fur babies” Ben and Sam and has countless memorabilia items including the famous “dachshund Christmas train” and “dachshund stopwatch” that have become timeless keepsakes. Dave was also known to rescue and bring home animals in need including turtles, baby deer, puppies, and kittens. Dave is predeceased by his parents Glen and Dorothy Marra. Dave is survived by his wife of 37 years Louisa Marra, his children Iesha (Warren) Leigh and Daniel (Laura) Marra. Dave is also survived and loved by his five grandchildren Sydney and Myles Leigh and Kendall, Rylann, and Adeline Marra. Dave is survived by his brother Michael (Kayt) Marra and a host of nieces and nephews. Dave was also loved by his chosen family including Christina, Charlie, Angela, Merlin, Michael, and all the Pine Hills neighborhood kids. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to remember Dave and share stories about Dave’s life on Tuesday November 29th from 4PM-7PM at Magin and Keegan Funeral home at 891 Madison Ave Albany NY 12208 with a service being held at 6 PM.
